Her Absence, Her Presents

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks to say the least. My Grandma Lucy was laid to rest on Monday in the midst of family and friends. She was 92 years of age and yet ageless to me. I have dreaded this time for so many years. And yet, I am finding peace in small moments. The weeks have been a blur, but filled with gifts.

Lucy's legacy

  • Final foot rubs with lavender oil
  • My family coming together in a way I’ve never seen
  • Gorgeous frosted trees
  • Peaceful dying
  • Amazing support from friends and strangers alike
  • Beautiful flowers
  • Amazing music
  • Memories with sweetness sprinkled in
  • Surrender

I had the honor of giving Lucy’s eulogy. It was a tribute to her nicknames, her expressions, and the lessons that she taught me about so many areas of life. But most of all, it was my way of saying thank you. I am so blessed to have had 32 years with someone who I consider my best friend.

May you find peace in the memories that you have of your loved ones who have transitioned.
